Feeling and need cards: Card game about connecting communication

Dr. Marshall B. Rosenberg started a new view of communication with his theory of nonviolent communication. In the meantime, the term connecting communication is more applicable, but the principles remain largely the same.

Value yourself and others. Do it often and spontaneously. Dare to ask for what you need. You have a 'no', you can get a 'yes' if you ask for it. Connecting Speaking = clear and without coercion. Connecting Listening = hearing what the other person feels and needs.

The Feeling and Need Cards is the ideal tool for working on connecting communication.

Goals

  • Detecting and/or expressing feelings
  • Detecting and/or expressing needs

Playful approach

The game box contains beautifully illustrated, colorful cards: 55 feeling cards and 50 need cards. The cards have a colorful image and one or more concepts.

  • Examples of feeling cards are: grateful, confident, relieved, curious, furious, absent-minded, shy, fit ...
  • Examples of need maps: movement, being heard, equality, understanding, learning, cooperation ...

These cards offer many opportunities to look at needs and feelings.

  • Use the cards to look at your needs, their importance, and whether or not they are being met.
  • Order the feeling cards by intensity.
  • See what needs are being met. Which needs does the school explicitly want to cater for and which does not?

There is a small manual with game tips. On the website you will also find a video with a way in which you can use the Feeling and Need cards.
